Stop phoningthe site to askhow full it is.
Quvo measures stockpile volumes across recycling facilities. The data existed, but the sales team could not reach it, so they phoned the site and asked. We built a working proof of concept to answer whether an app was the right answer, and set up the business email and cloud infrastructure alongside it.
Proof of concept. The app was not released; the email and cloud setup is in use.

Quvo runs LiDAR scanning over stockpiles and turns it into volume data. That is a genuinely hard measurement problem, and it was already solved. The problem we were handed was the last mile: the people who needed the number most were the furthest from it.
This was scoped as a proof of concept, and it is worth saying so plainly. The point was to put something real in a salesperson’s hands and find out whether a native app was the right answer before anyone paid to ship and maintain one. It was never released to the stores.
Sales wanted one thing: can I take this load, and where does it go. Everything in the app is bent toward answering that in under five seconds.
How it was built
Decisions that made the difference between a dashboard and a tool.
The underlying system is full of LiDAR detail. None of it is in the app, on purpose.
- Volume, capacity, utilization and material only
- Status as a color, readable at a glance
- No scan diagnostics, no sensor detail
- Facility switcher for multi-site staff
- Pull to refresh instead of a settings screen
Four states, color-coded, sized to be legible on a phone in daylight with gloves on.
- Nearly Full at 90 percent and above
- High between 70 and 89
- Available between 30 and 69
- Low Stock below 30
- Percentage and raw units shown together
A single reading tells you the state. A trend tells you whether to act today or next week.
- Seven, thirty and ninety day windows
- Daily levels with percentage utilization
- Volume trend charted per bay
- Last measurement timestamp shown plainly
- Recent updates listed under the chart
Fastlane lanes for build, test and internal distribution, so the proof of concept could be put on a real device in front of real people. Store release was scoped but never run.
- Fastlane lanes for build, test and internal distribution
- Certificate and provisioning management
- GitHub Actions workflow for automated builds
- Single deploy script for manual builds
- Documented so the team can run it without us
Separate from the app, and the part still in daily use: business email and the Google Cloud account the company runs on.
- Google Workspace setup and user provisioning
- Domain and DNS configuration
- Mail deliverability records
- Google Cloud Platform project and access setup
- Handed over with the account owned by Quvo
